Time to get on the road!!!

We really weren’t sure that everything would fit, but it did. We got rolling around 5:30 pm. The drive to Reno was truly wonderful — excellent conversation, playing a round of the Radical Acts game (pretty neat actually) and seeing LOTS of Burners also making the journey. Our hosts here in Reno stayed up to greet us and make us feel right at home. Tomorrow church in Reno, one more short shopping trip and then we depart for Black Rock City, shooting to arrive at sunrise.

Yep, going to the desert, both to learn and to share.

Millions of unprejudiced minds – simple seekers for Truth, weary wanderers, athirst in the desert – are waiting and watching for rest and drink. Give them a cup of cold water in Christ’s name, and never fear the consequences. What if the old dragon should send forth a new flood to drown the Christ-idea? He can neither drown your voice with its roar, nor again sink the world into the deep waters of chaos and old night. In this age the earth will help the woman; the spiritual idea will be understood. Those ready for the blessing you impart will give thanks. The waters will be pacified, and Christ will command the wave.

Final Preparations in Full Swing!!!

We’ve been scrambling to finish last-minute planning, building, preparation and logistics for our trip out the Nevada desert.  We leave tomorrow for Reno, where some families from First Church of Christ, Scientist Reno will be hosting us Saturday night.  We’re planning on attending church on Sunday, answering questions and doing final shopping & prep, then leaving for the playa early Sunday morning, probably around 4am so we can arrive at sunrise.  THANK YOU to everyone who has been supporting our efforts, and we are welcoming online donations to help cover costs if you’re so inclined.  Our Prayer Watch calendar is filling up for the week, feel free to add your name and sign up for a slot.

Fujiko’s talk “Love without Limits, Life Without Fear” confirmed at Red Lightning camp (8:45 and Esplanade) on Wednesday at 4pm

Fujiko SignsFujiko Signs, CSB will be giving a talk / workshop on the topic of “Love without Limits, Life Without Fear” on Wednesday 8/28/13 at 4-5:45 pm in the Triad (part of Red Lightning camp located at 8:45 and Esplanade.)

Here’s the description of her talk:

Are you willing to become like a little child? How does childlike trust connect you with your inner source, your creator, God, Love? What is your concept of prayer? Should we expect healing when we pray or think about our relationship with God, who is Life? What is truth that is universal and unifying? When we accept God as Love and Life, we may experience more love and vitality. Come and explore these ideas with a lecturer who herself questions these ideas. She was inspired by many healing accounts in the Bible and especially the words and works of Christ Jesus who understood the relationship between consciousness and healing.

Come join us on Wednesday at Red Lightning!

Finished!

Setting up our 30′ Playa Dome for the first time

Yesterday we setup our 30′ Playa Dome for the first time.  We selected the Berkeley Marina again, since it’s a nice windy place, and we wanted to see what that would be like.  It took 4 of us (Grant, Julian, Drea, and Gabriel) about an hour and a half to get it fully assembled.  We broke 4 of the supports (they supply extras thankfully) and we’ll replenish those before we take the dome to Burning Man.  One key learning was to use the outer connector pieces for the circular support level instead of inner — the circumference was too tight to get the final piece in.  We’ll be at Burning Man in 1 week!!!

Video of us testing our spinnaker shade cover at the Berkeley Marina — does it stand up to the wind?

We took our central shade column and spinnaker to the Berkeley Marina to test how it would all come together and hold up in the face of wind. We discovered that it was probably not going to work to use it.  Being designed to catch wind, it was hard to stabilize, and was very loud and noisy, not the environment we’re looking to create.  We may still install it on the playa as an art project though! 🙂
