We’re happy to be going to the Northern California Church Alive Summit  this weekend in Sacramento, CA.  We’re looking forward to sharing our ideas about our camp with the ~650 Christian Scientists expected to be in attendance.  We’re going to be sharing the postcard featured below at the Summit.  Like it?

Hack Your Church! postcard back

“It is not indispensable to organize materially Christ’s Church. It is not absolutely necessary to ordain pastors and to dedicate churches; but if this be done, let it be in concession to the period, and not as a perpetual or indispensable ceremonial of the church…the real Christian compact is love for one another. This bond is wholly spiritual and inviolate”

some thoughts on service

a few weeks back I did readings on  s e r v i c e   for a Wednesday evening  and wanted to share a few bits that felt also relevant to our work.
“I thank God whom I serve with a pure conscience without ceasing day and night. Who hath called us with an holy calling… not according to our works, but according to His purpose.” (2 Tim 3 and 9)
“let my people go that they may serve me” (ex 7:16)
“Mine angel shall go before thee… Ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread and thy water.” ex 23:23
When first spoken in any, Truth, like the light, ‘shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehended it not.’ A false sense of life, substance, and mind ides the divine possibilities…”
“I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labor” ecclesiastes 2
…man is but the humble servant of the restful mind… (119)
If the Scientist has enough Christly affection… the result will correspond with the spiritual intent.” (365)
“God pours the riches of his love into the understanding and affections, giving us strength according to the the day.”
“Christian Science unfolds the hallowed influences of unselfishness, philanthropy, spiritual love…” (462)
